adding hand claps to an instrumental score/chart
I'm certain there probably is an easy way to add a hand clap rhythm to a trombone page but I can't seem to find it.
Can anyone give me the needed solution to my issue.
Thanks

Add an percussion instrument to the score, add the hand clap notes to it, then make the staff invisible in the instruments dialog. Finally add X head notes to the trombone part and silence them so you only hear hand claps. You can change the note heads to X's using the inspector (F8).

Your answer has totally confused me, so I simply tried the f8 function and was able to change the note heads. I don't use the program very often so simple things can bog me down.
Have a look to one of my scores, at 1 mn 13 s trumpets, clap hands ans sing https://musescore.com/user/7245146/scores/2724086

If you bring up your instrument list (press “I” on the keyboard), there will be “Percussion - Body.” It has claps, stomping, etc. :)
Hope it helps!
