instrument name not showing
Hi!
How can I show the name of the instrument / part (piano).
Trying to find out whether there is some place one can tell MS to force "show part name". In order to solve issue where the part name (piano) disappears in parts where left hand is hidden.
thanks, cheers,
Uri

Format > Part > untick "Hide Instrumentname if only one Instrument exists" (or some such, translated back from German
Part name is hidden by default if there's only one instrument in the score. It can be changed, look here:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/layout-and-formatting#style-score
Uncheck option "Hide instrument name if there is only one instrument"

Thank you!
Regarding the 'fix' listed above in this string, under Format there is no listing for 'Part', so before even starting out its hair pulling time. Could someone explain for us newbies how to get Musescore 4 to default to simply showing instrument name(s) at upper left when multiple instrument parts are being written? That seems like a simple need. But the solutions here all apply to pervious versions which used different menus, etc. Thank you

Wrong post (if any moderator sees this you can remove it. Can't find how to do it)

The "hide instrument" is now under Format > Style > Score, but as far as I see it does not work for simply having the instrument name on top left of each part . . . .
Does someone know how this is supposed to work?

If there is more than one instrument, MuS defaults to showing instrument names, unless you have changed a setting. Might be worthwhile to perform a reset? Help / Revert to factory settings.

You can do this manually in MS4 by selecting a note or rest and then doing the following: click Palettes tab > Text > click dropdown arrow > Stave text > select produced “Stave text” so it’s editable > (type your required instrument) > (move instrument you’ve just typed in to where you want). Repeat for each instrument.
