Organ pedal articulations
I want to annotate the pedal score for organ with the conventional heel and toe markings. The heel marking is similar to the down bow marking for strings; the toe marking is similar to the caret above the 6 (^) on keyboards. There is nothing in the articulations palette that can be used for the toe marking (marcato is not suitable). These markings are applied above the note for the right foot or below it for the left foot, so probably special symbols are needed that can be so applied, and their position switched with X if needed. Can these articulations be added to the product?

These can be found in the master palette. Press z and use the search box for words like heel, toe or organ.

Thank you. I found them there. (A search on organ was not helpful but heel and toe worked. Turns out they're in a Keyboard subset of the Symbol set, which is not available on the standard palettes. I'll have to draw them from the master palette. I tried creating a custom workspace and a custom palette within it but never found a way to add anything to it.)

The easiest way to add an item to a custom palette is to right click the palette and open palette properties, then check Show "More elements..." This will put 3 question marks in the palette. When you click the question marks you will open the master palette. Find the item and drag it to the custom palette.

I had done this but clicking or double-clicking the 3 question marks does not open the master palette. Right clicking opens a small menu that includes "More elements..." but that doesn't do anything either. I had to manually open the master palette on the View menu.
So I finally created the custom palette I wanted and worked with it on a couple of pieces. Then I closed MuseScore. When I opened it again the workspace was gone, and the palette with it. (I had not saved the palette before closing.) So I rebuilt the workspace and the palette and looked for some way to save the workspace, including the palette. I have not found it and expect to lose it again the next time I close MuseScore. I have found how to save the palette alone, but MuseScore wants to put it in the bin folder, for which save permission is denied. MuseScore has a workspaces folder that has the Basic and Advanced workspaces in it but I don't know how to add a custom workspace to it, and save permission is denied on that folder also. I even added a palettes folder to MuseScore but save permission is denied there as well because it is inherited from the parent. (I know how to change this as a sysadmin but I'd rather not. There should be a better way.) I know I can create and use another folder but I really want to know the proper way to save the workspace and the palette together.

If you create a custom workspace, edit any palette so it has "More elements..." and the three question marks appear, clicking the question marks opens the master palette. You don't have to save the workspace and closing MuseScore WILL save the workspace. Saving a palette individually is not necessary. You can only load a saved palette into a custom workspace. I ALWAYS have a custom palette and only use something else long enough to add an element to my custom palette so I don't have to switch. If it's just for one project, I delete it when the project is done.
You may have access issues, but I've never experienced that. I also don't think that's the case if you didn't change the default file locations for saving scores, but some of the file locations still elude me.
I have been troubled by this, too. Changing palettes and workspaces is infrequent enough and pain of losing the change sufficiently great that, I think, it should "autosave" (correctly) as soon as you make a change.

I agree there should be a way to save workspaces without closing the program. I've brought it up before but never got much of a response.
