File.mscz causes crash on load
My file causes musescore to crash every time I try to open it. I am using the most recent version of musescore (3.0.5) and running musescore on a mac.

It crashed 3.1-beta2 also. A programmer will need to open it in the debugger.

Thank you so much!
I have the same problem (I think)... latest version Musescore 3 crashes on opening, gives message "The previous session quit unexpectedly. Restore session?". Replying either yes or no makes no difference, the program crashes. This happened even after uninstalling + deleting every register entry I could find and then reinstalling. As of now Musecore 3 is completely unusable. Anything I can do to rectify the situation?

@exVista, go to Mint ;-)
Download and install again, attach the score, someone will take a look...

Run it from the command line with -f to reset the factory settings. If it still crashes run it with the -w command line option. Change the preferences so the start center does not show when you run MuseScore.

If you really have the same problem, it is due to a corrupt score, and we'd need to see that.

I have the same problem. I worked on a score, musescore crashes after I printed a voice, after that my file isn’t loadable any more. Musescore 3.1 crashes immidiately, when I try to open this file. Without any alerts.
I would apologize, if you would repair my file. It is located here:

I tried to reinstall musescore. My system:
macOS High Sierra (10.13), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.1.0.22425, revision: e26f7c4

Thanks a lot.
I tried again, and again work is lost. If you don’t mind, could you please repair this one too?

How often must I expect to loose work. Is there something I can follow?
Constantly being afraid of loosing work and permanently making backups is a unfortunate situation.
(I had this bug often in the past).
Thank you!
BTW: I love Musescore, the whole concept and the easy to use interface.
I recommend to repair this bug very soon.
Best Regards and thank you for the immediate help!

Maybe @kuwitt can answer your question better.

To reproduce it the best way is to describe the precise steps, they occur the crash. When I open your score from terminal I get the output after the crash:
"Element::readProperties: linked elements have different types: BarLine, Chord. Input file corrupted?
Element::readProperties: could not link BarLine at staff 3"
So which last things you changed in your score? Check if it's the same, if you make these changes with extracted parts and without extracted parts and save your score. (and so on...)

Guess we'd need this in the issue tracker ...

Hard to say…
last time I inserted a Guitar diagram and Musescore crashed.
With the score mentioned, I did a print of score. As I returned from my printer, Musescore was off and reload fails. I can’t reproduce this, it's nebulous on my side, sorry.
Hi
I'm having same issue. It happened when I copied (or cut, I forget) a bar or two of notes and pasted them into a bar that was a combined bar of several bars of rests.
Would someone help me uncorrupt the file, as I'd hate to lose all the time I've put in.
Thanks
EDIT
I had already tried reinstalling from my initial download I made last week 3.2.3 and it didn't work. I've just tried downloading the latest version and it works now. Please ignore!

Have you also experienced the bug reported in [296591]? If this is the same bug, it will likely be fixed in the next release. Keep an eye on the bug report and you will it say it has been fixed.

#296591: Pasting two voices on multimeasure rests leads to crash?
In reply to Have you also experienced… by mike320
I don't think it was two voices (if that means two sets of notes sharing the same stave) but it may have been copying notes from a couple of staves and pasting them on the multimeasure rests.
