difficulty modifying a fretboard diagram

• Jul 2, 2019 - 01:38

Hi, when I get up the diagram of the fretboard, I can reduce the number of strings from 6 to 4, no problem. But the Bm chord I am working with in the program has a bar at the 2nd fret and I don't want a bar at all. How do I make it go away so that I can have an empty fretboard (that starts with the first fret) to work with? Or how can I make an empty one from scratch?

These settings are available under Format/Style/Fretboard Diagrams.
So, fret number (your "big 2") font size. And for the position, you have the choice between Left (the default) and Right. Not at the top: this is the emplacement expected for the Chord Symbols.

Hmm, lost me at "Format/Style/etc". Where is that? And the "Not at the top" is the "expected emplacement"? I am thinking I was not clear: The top fret shown for Bm in the program is the #2 fret, so instead of showing the first fret, at the top of the neck of the diagram/instrument, with the little black bar representing the top of the fretboard, this diagram starts with fret 2, instead of fret #1. All other diagrams that are not shown at frets # 2, 3, 4, etc. are shown to be placed at the top fo the fretboard, fret #1.

OK, I have 2.1 of MuseScore and the page you gave me sent me to the proper page for versions before 3.whatever. But I still don't see how to get rid of the "2" and move the view of the fretboard up to fret #1. I could do an end run around this problem be selecting another chord diagram that already shows the proper view of the fretboard, one that starts at that little bar at the top of the fretboard, but I don't see how I could then change its name. That is, if I use a G chord diagram, reduce the frets to 4, click off the dots I don't want, click on the ones I DO want and get it all perfect as a Bm chord, it will go into the chord diagrams with the label still saying it is a G chord.

Thank you! I had found this page and kept missing the info but, thanks to very specific directions from several people there, and your picture that is worth several hundred words, finally found it and have fixed the chord diagram. Thank you, and thanks to everybody who chipped in on this! Beth

Hmm, this looks like foreign territory-- is this for Muse 3? I have 2.1. But I did find the right page, although I kept missing the info on that correct page (correct for 2.1, I mean) and kept searching and, thanks to very specific directions from several people there, finally found it and have fixed the chord diagram. Thank you, everybody!

FWIW, I'd say the amount of time you've lost so far because of confusion like this, plus the amount of time you've lost because 2.1 is simply much less efficient to work with than MsueScore 3, is many times greater than the amount of time you'd lose learning a few different menu items and the other things that have changed.
