MUltiple measures of rest

I am transposing a horn part in D to F, I am plugging in all the notes and then will transpose to F after all the notes are input. As an example, I have 17 measures of rest in one part of the piece. I have not figured how to have it add up 17 measures of rest and note it in one measure that there are 17 measures of rest, and keep the measure # accurate. Can someone educate me :o)
