Entering new part for new voice
Using Musescore 2.3.2. Rev xOS: OS X 10.11, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 2.3.2, revision: 4592407.
Created new score with 4 parts added voice 1 first staff. Added note input for voice 4(bottom staff). Cannot get rid of voice 1 rests on bottom staff. Can make them invisible. Test score is attached. Another score (Varvinda Friska) attached has four parts, four voices, four staves without any of the Voice 1 rests. Why the difference?

Every staff needs voice 1, don't confuse voice (rhythmically independant notes in same staff) with (human) voice here. "Varvinda Friska" has all notes in voice 1 in all 4 staves.

And yes, MuseScore 3.2.3 is available for macOS 10.11 now, so you really may want to update, but that won't 'solve' this 'problem' here

Thank you Jojo-Schmitz. Yes, I see that Varvinda has all four "parts/staves" as "Voice 1" and yet, it is allowed for them to be different "instruments". I had not realized that this was allowed. I will do this with my test score now.
I will try again on MS 3.2.3. The first version I downloaded required a newer OS and would not run on my 10.11.6. Thank you again.

Indeed, the earlier MuseScore 3 versions required macOS 10.12 or later
