Mini-systems by Horizontal Frame?
I often create "scores", more properly, documents of music examples interspersed among text, with many short "music examples" separated by horizontal frames. Cute example: https://musescore.com/bsg/scores/5692824 . I would like to be able to define these as "systems" for purpose of staff-hiding determination (and what else?), perhaps as a property of the Horizontal frame --- Does this make sense to anybody else?

Proably better as a property of the section break? (this could get applied to frames, if need be)

Can I, or could I, have section breaks that act like horizontal frames, i.e., don't cause a "real" system break but only occupy horizontal space within a horizontal "line"? That sure would do it, though.

Hmm, right, a section break is always a system break too. But that too might be made one of its properties

Making a section break not necessarily a system break would be a nice feature (not just in this example though). Of course, the default break stays as is, with its system break setting enabled.
After all, nearly all other aspects of the break can be altered already (restart numbering, show courtesy, pause, …)

I'd buy two dozen of those on the first day! But it would have to mean "reevaluation of which staves are hidden", the basic thing I am asking for.

Oddly, I just proposed the same not ten minutes ago - https://musescore.org/en/node/294016#comment-943444

Aw, "gimme a break!" One more note: the break should insert/use a real horizontal frame, so it can bear text, images, etc.

While we're at it: how about an "append horizontal frame after selected measure, and while you're at it delete the system break from this measure and add it to the frame intself" command.

This confuses me. (I'd be happy for a "insert hor frame after this measure, period.") This seems to conflate the notions of system break and hframe in a way I can't figure out.

Agreed, it's weird. But I tire of the routine of "delete break, select next measure, insert frame, select frame, insert break". Maybe a plugin could do this?

Yeah, when plugins can manipulate frame-like things, which is not today ... yet... Merely "append hor frame" (as well as other kinds) that meant "here, not at the end of the score. If I wanted to go to the end of the score, I'd do so."_
