Split a beam
I want to split a beam of four crotchets into two pairs but haven't been able to find how to do this! Any help gratefully received.

Still not getting it.
Starting with four beamed notes I can use the No Beam tool on the first two and make them separate, leaving the second pair beamed. Selecting both the first two using CTRL I can't get Beam Start to do anything.

Just notice: are you talking about crotchets or quavers? In latter case, it doesn't work, if you select the third eight note and doubleclick on the first symbol inside the beam palette? And if you want to have it in general by default to click on the quaver notes inside the time signature properties to adjust it?

Ah, great, this is just what I wanted, thank you so much.
Thanks to all other respondents, and sorry for confusing quaver/crotchet refs.

Use the start beam tool on the third one so it won't attach to the second one but will attach to the next one.
