Playback glitches are back with full force, and for the first time I find myself agreeing with others that the plugin is nearly unusable. Thirty seconds into a restart of MuseScore and the playback's just glitched out on me again. Hope that we can figure out whatever the issue is; the plugin was extraordinarily helpful when it was working, so I greatly appreciate the work that you all are doing.

I am having to abandon work with Musescore Drumline for the moment due to the glitch that has been occurring frequently, and looking into solutions, have found nothing but other issues with no solutions. When I initially start Musescore Drumline, the software works great. However, seemingly randomly, at some point I pause playback and an earsplitting shot is played through my headphones, regardless of the volume my synthesizer or system volume is set at (basically, it is ridiculously loud). After this noise, any playback involving MDL is distorted in ways such as rolls being jumpy and inconsistent, missing notes, lack of articulations, and a massive shot at the end of playback (once again, randomly). I don't believe my computer is the issue, but correct me if I'm wrong:
I have had this issue in both the published version of Musescore 3 and the development version, which I switched to in order to avoid this issue. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or fixes for this bug, as the idea and functionality of MDL when it is working is a great benefit to me. Keep up the good work!
I just recently started using Musescore, but I have found that these types of problems typically arrive right after the program has crashed and I have restarted it. The only thing that has worked for me is just making sure everything is saved, and then force quitting or just closing out the program, and after that re-opening it. It takes forever, but it is the only thing that works so far.
Can you be more specific about what "this" you mean" This particular issue thread is a collection of dozens of different issues, many of which have already been fixed, others are missing information that would be needed to reproduce, etc. Which specific problem is preventing you from using it?
Well, exactly one has been fixed, but not in any released version, exactly 2 are missing information, 4 are duplicates, the rest, the vast majority, are still open and since ages.
I see five closed but I didn't look further about why. Anyhow, yes, lots of open issues, but most are very minor, or simply suggestions for future enhancement. It's still not clear which of these might be preventing someone from using the extension at all. Which is my point - it there is a specific issue someone is having that prevents them from using the extension, best to post in there to see if there are solutions.
OK, but the larger point remains - if someone wants help using MDL, this isn’t the place to get it. You’d need to be more specific about the problem, either by asking in the Support forum or by reading through the comments in the specific issue that you are being affected by, and perhaps commenting yourself if the existing comments don’t help.
If "this" is in reference to my comment on Apr 22, 2021, it refers to the issue described in this post from Jun 3, 2019, #291730: MDL Scratch/Pop Noise, Followed by Glitched Playback. Every sound in the extension is triggered at once, randomly, during playback, and playback of MDL instruments is subsequently broken. The primary issue is randomly dropped notes in all extension channels.
The only known fix is restarting MuseScore each time this happens. I've been told it's a macOS issue despite having reported it back then on Windows, so I pretty much just live with it, as I suggest other users do. It'd be nice if it could be fixed, but we're coming up on 4 years since the earliest explicit report that I can find, and despite the occasional annoyance, the software is very much 1) usable and 2) free.
(There is supposedly a chance that a fix comes thanks to changes in MS4)
This glitch still occurs for me as of October 2023, don’t see it getting patched anytime soon. Have to remove my headset before I pause the playback just to avoid getting my ears blown out.

If you don't know what it means, don't change it.
This issue is to collect issues with Mdl, see the "What links here" section above
Are we anywhere near a solution for any of these issues?

Still nothing?

when is this going to be fixed??? the extension has been barely functional for years

Look again: only one is closed/fixed (the download one), the others are duplicates, by design or won't fix

This issue tracker has been discontinued so better report it on GitHub
Also which of the many issue this one here is a collection of?
