vanishing scores
I keep losing scores that have taken me months to compile. I have written to musescore and they have replied that it is being " under review" whatever that means. This was ages ago. I have just discovered another of my scores which has disappeared. Anybody out there with any ideas because so far I am not impressed with the powers that be at musescore which is a pity as I find it a good programme

If you are talking about scores on musescore.com, you'd need to aske there, nobody here can help you with those.
Else that "under review" doesn’t seem make sense.
If you mean you cannot find the scores you have saved on your own computer, as opposed to musescore.com, then you are at the right place here. I'm guessing you wrote to the support staff at musescore.com though, since there is no support staff for the open source notation program itself. No surprise then the website support people weren't able to help you, that's not their job. This is the place to get support for the notation software, right here on the forums.
So, in order to help, we'd need to provide more information about the problem you are experiencing - what led to the current situation, what leads you to believe the score has disappeared, etc.
As it is, I can make a few guesses. MuseScore never deletes a score you save, but it could be it is saving it to a different folder than you thought. it's important to be clear what folder you are saving to every time you use the file dialog to choose filename to save to. It's also good to be sure about the folder any time you save a score that MuseScore recovered for you after a crash. Depending on the specific version of MuseScore and your OS, that recovered score might save to a different place than the original.

Dear Marc,
Thank you for your reply. When I am compiling a score, I always go to "Save As" which works for me - or so I thought. For example, I have or had three scores for brass band. One has disappeared entirely and the other two have deleted about 80% thus I cannot print out score and parts. If you have any suggestions, I would be most grateful, though I have to confess that I am not very computer literate and my knowledge in that respect would make a cat laugh, so please indulge me!!

Hmm, always going to Save As is not good, you should normally just do Save unless your goal is to save a second copy of the file, keeping the previous version. if that's what you've been doing, you should have multiple versions, then, one for each time you did Save As. Unless you chose to overwrite some existing file when you did the Save As. It's possible you saved to a different folder than you thought, or it's also possible you ended up overwriting an existing file you didn't mean to.
Anyhow, it seems whatever is going on, is probably not related to MuseScore itself, but is basic file management - understanding how save, save as, filenames, and folders work. My advice is to find someone who is more computer savvy locally who can work with in person to try to unravel what you did and where you put your files.

Dear Marc,
Thank you for your reply and advice. I will find someone who is more computer literate than myself. In future, I will use "save" rather than "save as" as you suggested. As a matter of interestj, is that what you do?

Sure, I use "Save" most of the time. But "Save As" isn't inherently bad - it's a useful tool when you have a specific need for what it can do (make a copy of the score with a different name or in a different folder). So I don't mean not to use it when appropriate. But if you don't have a clear understanding of its purpose and why it make sense to use it in some particular situation, chances are you would not using it effectively, and that may well be what led to problems here.
