Instrument choice
Bonjour,
Using MuseScore 3.3.4 with Mageia Linux (AppImage or MuseScore installed from RPM) the list of instruments for instrument choice is always empty, when creating a new score or modifying a score.
What is my problem ?

just to precise that I can see the palette frame, only the list of instruments for choosing one is empty.

Can you tell us what is listed as the
Instrument list
in Edit → Preferences → Score tab?By default it should read
:/data/instruments.xml
for the first list and be empty for the 2nd list.In reply to Can you tell us what is… by jeetee
For the first list I read: /usr/share/mscore-3.0/instruments/instruments.xml
This is wrong ! I just corrected it with /usr/share/mscore-3.3/instruments/instruments.xml it seems to be OK ! I am to check that.
Thank you Jeetee

Ah yes, it makes sense that for linux the reference would be into /usr/share rather than :/data/

I don't think it does, should be the same as on Windows, that : denotes compiled in files

For the AppImage I would indeed expect this to be true.
But the RPM version is a distribution package (not by us); it makes sense that those would try and follow the distro's file system as much as possible when patching the build/package.

:/data/instruments.xml
is the 'factory' default, distros shsould not play with those. The bad result can be seen in this thread.Had they used
/usr/share/mscore-3/instruments/instruments.xml
instead in both cases, that would have worked too
