create a test stave
I'd like to create a stave where rests can be added [or missing notes] on a piece of music to complete the bars. Any chance of being able to do this.

The above is correct, but I'm not understanding why you'd want an extra staff to "complete the bars". Sounds like maybe you are searching for a way to solve some sort of problem that has a much better solution, but I can't tell what it is. If you attach a score and tell us what you are trying to do, probably we can suggest a much easier method - or how to avoid the problem in the first place.

Hi Marc
I want to use some music on a stave then take some notes out for them to be filled in by the student. Thereby a test of knowledge. It was the way I wrote it sorry. I've discovered that I can make the missing note into a rest and lift it up thereby making it seem like the space is empty and copying that. Unless there is another way so I can snip the whole score together to place on a test sheet.

In stead of "lift it up" you should make it invisible. You do that by selecting it and then press "v". it will still be light grey on your screen, but when printed it will not be visible at all.

Ah, this makes a bit more sense! Depending on the specifics, I'd say you don't actually need to uses rests at all, just make the notes invisible (as suggested above). But attaching an actual example would help us to understand and assist better.
