Help! Playback + Chosing Synthesizer are greyed out
I've tried EVERY guide relating to this issue (on this website) and nothing has worked.
Here's what I've tried:
- Restarting both Musescore and PC
- Re-installed Musescore
- Unticked "Exclusive Mode" in Soundcard-settings
- Installed a new SoundFont
- Checked if I needed to update the Sound Drivers (They didn't need an update)
- Checked to see if anything was muted etc.
I can't even select any devices in I/O - nothing happens when I click it. Same with synthesizer and the playback bar, they're totally greyed out.
I'm on version 3.4.2.9788 ("Check for Update" gave me the exact version)
(YES I've already done everything on this guide https://musescore.org/en/node/96811 )
Hope to get some help, I've tried to fix this for a days now :(((

Have you tried installing/uninstalling from the Help/Resource Manager menu the General HQ?

Well I've tried Uninstalling the program from my Computers Settings, the way you normally uninstall programs, and that didn't work

This?
(Sometimes, in the past uninstalling sound card drivers and reinstalling solved)

What OS, what kind of hardware? Maybe your OS and application are 64-bit but the sound drivers are only 32?

The Version of Musescore is 64 - This sounds like it could be the issue, but how do I check if my drivers are 32 / how do I get a 32-version of Musescore if needed?

I too am having similar issues. Play bar, Mixer and synthesizer are grayed out and not available. I can load save and edit scores, Tried Repair, did not work. Re-downloaded the version, it ended abruptly with the message that I already have an account. I set all items to "reset preferences" etc. Everything else on my computer works and I can still use the website. I just can't write any songs, since I can't play them back, (I am no Beethoven)

Helped myself. I recently bought a Sennheiser Ultra Low lag Bluetooth headset. When I have them turned off, the program loads normally. I can plug in standard headsets and use the program. When I turn on the Blue tooth headset, The computer and headset say I'm connected, but I can go onto Musescore.com and listen to sounds, but the Notation software does not play on my Bluetooth Headset. If my Bluetooth headset is active when I turn the program on, the parts are grayed and I cannot play the score. I will add this to the comment started on ../en/forum
If there is a fix, I don't know what it would be. So though I found the root cause, I cannot cure the disease.

Not sure how to tell for sure regarding your particular drivers, but often the name folder they live in provides a clue - if it has "x86" or "32" in the name, that's a sign of 32-bit. You can download 32-bit MuseScore via the Download menu above. probably makes sense to uninstall the version you currently have first.
