MDL Dynamics
A few weeks ago, after the single note dynamics became a thing, I shifted from CC2 to CC11 and the winds and all standard soundfonts have been working beautifully. However, all MDL instruments have become a standard mezzo forte. In the score linked, it is very apparent in measure 165-166 in which the tenor drums have a triplet roll that decrescendos and there is no change in dynamic. But when I switch back to CC2, MDL works fine, but everything else loses the ability to crescendo and decrescendo in a single note.

Single note dynamics on drums??

No. I mean the decrescendo over the course of the two measures is not happening. From beat one of 165 to beat four of 166, there is no change.

Different soundfonts support different CC messages, so you have to choose the right setting for your soundfont. The default soundfont works with the default setting.

Still CC settings should not have any effect on multiple notes, should it?

It may not and I may be too ignorant in this area of musescore. I saw that changing the CC settings had changed the way things sounded and assumed the issue was there.

So is there any way to get both the MDL and the standard MuseScore soundfont to work on the same setting, or can I choose different CC messaging for different soundfonts?

It is a Synthesizer setting, not a soundfont setting, so no, you can't mix different soundfonts which need different CC settings. At least that is my understanding

As far as I know if you use only the default soundfont plus MDL and leave the CC setting at the default, everything should work.

So am I understanding this correctly?
The MDL soundfont works on the default CC2 settings, as well as all of the standard MuseScore soundfont, but the soundfonts I use for brass may need different settings.

The part before the "but" is true as far as I know. I don't know what soundfotns you use, nor do I know which third party soundfonts work with which CC settings, so I can't really comment on that.

Okay. Thank you
