Bug? Key change problem

• Apr 8, 2020 - 15:24

MS version 3.4.2. I wrote the soprano, alto and tenor parts with notation in C-clef. When I change them to G-clefs, the key changes are not handled properly (see enclosed screen shot).

Glitches like this have been known to happen from time to time, usually after clefs are inserted then deleted (including the automatic clef at the beginning of a system, which is why system or page breaks can be relevant) and somehow the internal record of this gets confused. I think I've seen this in the past is you tried, for example, manually changing the position of a clef at the beginning of a system, then deleting the break. We've fixed all the bugs in this area where someone was able to come up with clear steps to reproduce the problem, but I suspect some corner cases do still remain. BTW, I also kind of half expect to see this happen with scores created with an earlier buggier version (like, say, 3.0.1) and only being edited again.

Anyhow, if you do ever come up with steps to reproduce this, please do followup, but when you do, please attach the actual score (even just a relevant except) rather than just a picture.

Hmm, when I load your file, I still see C clefs (I don't know bout "proper", does anyone actually use these?), and the key signatures look correct. I change the soprano part to a standard treble clef and both key signatures are updated as expected. Am I missing something? ON the assumption that saving the file cured the issue, I tried reproducing from scratch using that basic recipe but still couldn't reproduce. Might have to do with exactly how you are applying the key and clef changes - drag & drop vs click on palette, etc.
