scales and arpeggios
I have tried to create some scales and arpeggios but I can't seem to do it without 1. a key signature or time signature change indicated at the end of each line (the software thinks I'm writing a piece of music rather than separate scales) and attempts to 'hide' it aren't available or 2. When the scale ends on one minim in one separate bar, this becomes one huge long bar when I create a page break to separate the second scale from the first. I hope you can work out what I mean!
Is there a set procedure to do it exactly like exam books? Any help gratefully received.

Thank you very much for your help. I've tried to follow the instructions. I've turned off the courtesy key and time sigs at the end of each line, but I've still got a problem. I've attached my efforts. The second scale has naturals at the start which I can't get rid of. The fourth scale ends up with an empty bar at the end. I've tried to make a system break to resolve this but it doesn't work. I think I need a list of steps so that I don't have to make any intuitive leaps. Apologies, but this doesn't come easily to me.

Again: use section breaks, not system breaks between exercises.

I have now done it successfully!!! Thank you! I am very grateful for your help and patience. Being able to do this will be incredibly useful for me.
The how-to linked above was written for MuseScore 1, but that still holds true.
Although since MuseScore 2 (and also in 3) you can add a section break at the end of each exercise to get the effect you're looking for: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/breaks-and-spacers
