Just single bars with numeration

• Apr 12, 2016 - 10:53

Hello,

I'm trying to create a sheet for my drum grooves.
It's best to just show you a picture how I wanna do it.

Something like this:

How can I create single bars and the text in front of them?
Maybe even just in front of them not on top.
Thanks for all the help!

Not sure what you mean by "manually" here - obvciously, the text can't type itself :-). But you could certainly define the text style for, say, rehearsal marks or system text or whatever to display it with the formatting you desire, so all you have to do is type and it is positioned the way you like. Or you could use text frames.

no the thing is, I want the grooves to have a number.
So I'd have to number every groove and it's gonna be a lot.
So thats why I asked about automation of text or anything that could help me
just putting text in front of them so I don't have to put systemtext there manually even with the cursor... but with something fixed to the grid...
I hope it's clearer now.

It still seems this is perfectly possible by using the different types of text and setting the text stylle appropriate to make them positioned the way you wan. In fact, it seems it would be pretty easy. If you post a score set up the way you want, I or someone else could show you how you can easily get the text just how you want it - nothing manual required. In fact, if it's just about the numbers, you wouldn't even have to type them - the measure numebr facility could be used for this purpose. Or use rehearsal marks and the auto-sequencing facility.

If you are happy with just a number to indicate each exercise then you can use Measure Numbers or try this trick with Rehearsal Marks to speed things up a bit:

Create a blank score.
Add line breaks to give you the correct number of bars per line. If you only want 1 bar per line then use Plugins ->Break every X measures and set it to 1.
Add a rehearsal Mark to the first bar and make it "1".
Add "automatic" Rehearsal Marks to the first bar of each of the other lines ([Ctrl]-click on each bar that you want and then go to the "Text" palette and click on the B1 (Rehearsal mark) icon. If you only have one bar per line you can speed up the selection by clicking on the 2nd bar and [Ctr][Shift][End] before clicking on the icon.

Now for the (possibly thought of before, possibly not) trick - select all bars ([Ctrl]a) and go to the menu item Edit ->Tools _>Resequence Rehearsal Marks.
