French Hanbook in process

• Feb 23, 2009 - 17:49

Hi

I have updated some pages of the handbook, therefore some behavior appears :
- Note entry = Edit button and link in translate screen does not appear.
- Cross staff beaming = Don't exist in French, so, as edit screen tells, I created the page, she is visible in translate mode but not directly in french handbook.
- Cross staff beaming = The last phrase is "See also Bar line ..." translated in "Voir aussi Barre de mesure ...." The link Barre de mesure is not fonctionnal.

Please advise.
Best regards
Jean-Louis

I added the cross staff beaming page to the handbook. This is done by clicking on the "Structure" link at the top of the page and selecting "Manuel" and "Notation" for the book and subsection.

The "Barre de mesure" link works for me. There is a bug that causes freelinks to sometimes link to /en/ instead of the local language after you change it. Thomas can provide more details but I think it only affect the person who did the editing.

Thanks David

Unfortunately The page is not displayed in the french handbook as I am logged in or not.
the lonely thing I see is the page "create a new page"
I am only able to see the french page only in translate mode, the link Barre de mesure is now fonctionnal.
Note Entry still uneditable, Edit button does not appear.

On the French manuel page I saw that the link to 'Accroches entre portées' has an 's' to much. Changing it to 'Accroche entre portées' solved the issue.
So the outline had nothing to do with this. It was just a typo. For the freelinking filter to work, the title has to match exactly.

Note Entry page is editable now. Thanks for the notification. The problem was due to the default filter which was set to this page on full HTML.

Et tac ! Was my orthographic , wherever I had controlled all, that fault passed, as on QT Linguist I need a phrase book, thanks Thomas to have these Sherlock Holmes eyes...
And for Note entry, just some words to adjust.

- The freelinking doesn't work when you wish to link from a English based post to a French based book page. (this forum topic is labeled as English). So you will need to hard link it: barre-de-mesure

@David there are no more problems with freelinking anymore since the way it works has changed now: it directly injects the right url if the page is found. If the freelinking url pops up, it means that the page does not exist or that the title is different. See also this topic

- I will have to check out why the outline didn't work out by default. Normally when translating a page, the outline of the original page is preserved. A bug apparently.

Thanks Thomas

I better understand the process for the Freelinks.
As I tell to David, the page I translated seems to be not outlined to the french handbook...
Just another thing, it is possible that I replace the english screenshots by french ones ?

Thomas

All pages, except one, has been updated, orhographic corrected, and reflect now the english ones.
On Note Entry, the Edit button in french translation does not appear, so I can't do update.
And a funny one : in Frame page, the screenshot frame.png is not in english...

Suggestion : As screenshots exists for Nederlands in english and other handbook, it could be easy to donwload the language specific screenshot in the english book, so they will appear in each handbook and choose the right one to place, for example :
- English screenshots = frame.png
- Language specific = frame_fr.png

The inline images may not be bigger than 800 by 800 pixels. I propose you scale it down to the same size as the original English one. Do you think you can manage that?

If it's over 800 pixels, it shows up as a link instead of inline.
