Importing midi
Hi all.
I have a score with three staffs.
2 for piano and 1 for melody.
How do I choose the staff to use for a midi import?
Also...
In cubase I can split a midi import into left hand and right hand by selecting a note (middle c or other) as the split point.
How can I do this in musescore?
Thanks!
David

Thanks.
Admittedly I had missed the part about splitting the hands. What about choosing the staff. I.e. Importing into the melody staff?

I don't think it is possible to import directly into an already existing score/staff. When you import the MIDI file, as described in the handbook, it will end up in a new score. You can then copy/paste the part you want into your score.

The manual says this:
Split staff
This option is suited mainly for piano tracks - to assign notes to the left or right hand of the performer. It uses constant pitch separation (the user may choose the pitch via sub-options)

I cannot find this "sub-option" menu to select "constant pitch" or "hand width".
Thanks.

I think that part of the Handbook is in error. It might have dated from a time before the more sophisticated system we actually use was put into place.
If you wish to revert to a more simplistic constant split point, disable the split in the import process, then right click the staff itself and choose the Split Staff command from the context menu. You will get a dialog box that allows you to choose the split point.
