Percussion sound won't change
I composed a piece in Musescore 1, and opened it in Musescore 2. The percussion is a very loud booming drum that drowns out the other parts, and that is not my intention. I want it to be a soft tap and I don't know how to change that. I figured out how to change the instrument name, but it still is the loud booming drum. How do I change it? Thanks. FlightToTexas.mscz

Right clic on the name of the Staff and go to change instrument , and choose
It sound the same in 1.3 and 2.0, so I'm not quite sure what you're complaining about?
And I don't find it very loud and booming either, it is indeed not a soft tap though.
There is no percussion stave, but a stave with 'Synth Drum' as the Sound
The file really doesn't look like having been created in 1.3, more like having been imported from MIDI or MusicXML or somesuch in 1.3
Press F10 to bring up the mixer and turn the Drum volume down.
IMO the banjo is also too loud so you could turn that down too.
It's resolved; I figured it out. The software's play function has a much different sound than the midi output when I export it. I turned down the sounds as suggested.

MIDI isn't sound, it is instructions for creating sound. If you create a MIDI file, it will sound different on every program you might use to play that MIDI file - that's the nature of MIDI.
