MuseScore playback
Lately I have switched from Ubuntu to Scientific Linux 6.0 (64bit) and after installing a lot (if not all) of the dependecies manually, I finally managed to also install MuseScore as well. The problem now is that MuseScore won't play back any music that is writen in the score I am currently editing (or any score, for that matter).
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance

What happens? Does the cursor move but no sound? Are you sure your sound is turned on. Does the score just freeze???

Nothing happens - the cursor that otherwise "travels" across the score does not even show up, there is no sound or anything like that...
The computer is fine, I can stop the playback (if there was any sound at all) at any time, and I can use the computer normaly, just as I would if I just wanted to do anything else, the computer doesn't freeze, nothing crashes,...
Yes, I am sure the sound is turned on (I am currently listening to music ;)).

in every score?
Yes, in every score that I have tried so far.
If it helps, it also doesn't play the sound of the note I put in when I write music either...
It worked fine when I was using Ubuntu and Windows (I'm now using Scientific Linux 6.0, which is a recompile and a rebrand of RHEL) - could it be some outdated or missing lib?

Do you have access to Display -> Synthesizer ? If yes, is there a soundfont selected?
Can you post a screenshot of Edit -> Preferences -> I/O ?
No, I can't access the Synthesizer, it's greyed out
this post has an attachment with the screenshot of the I/O settings

Uncheck "Use Jack MIDI output" and "Jack Audio Server" and "ALSA MIDI". Restart MuseScore. Check if you have access to the synthesizer. If yes, try to play.
If not, come back to the I/O tab, check if you have something in the combo box below PortAudio.
Still can't play anything, and still don't have access to Synthesizer
I also don't have anything in either one of the combo boxes (Api/devices) under Portaudio

You really restarted right ?
So uncheck portaudio and choose ALSA instead and restart again.
Yes, I really did restart MuseScore :)
If I uncheck portaudio, check ALSA and close and reopen MuseScore, even the icons for the playback options in the program menu are greyed out.
If I repeat the process with unchecking ALSA and checking Jack audio, the playback options become available again, but there is still nothing happening and the Synthesizer is still greyed out.
