BIAB Imports only chords, no melody
Hi,
I realize that BIAB MGU file import is just experimental, but I am posting in case someone has had the same problem and found a solution.
When I open an MGU file in Musescore 2.0.2, I get the chords, but no melody.
The MGU file works in BIAB, i.e. if I open it with BIAB, the melody is there.
I did find a workaround by saving as a midi file from BIAB and opening in Musescore, then copy/paste the melody to the imported chord sheet (the one that has no melody), but it would be so slick and nice to work with a working MGU import.
Any ideas that I could try to fix this will be appreciated.
Cheers,
Dan

Can you share the BIAB file? Try whether MuseScore 2.0.3 imports it correctly

Hi, thanks for the reply, Jojo.
I tried 2.0.3 and it still doesn't work.
The file is attached. I had to zip it because the forum didn't accept the "MGU" extension.
My goal is only to make a lead sheet with chords and melody with Musescore.
In the past year, I have used Musescore extensively to make my sheet music for church.
If I can get this import to work with MGU files, it will be saving me a lot of work finding chords to songs by using Band-in-a-box to find them for me.

In"Sheet Music" of MS you find a lot of "white Christmas"

There is probably one with the chords, but I didn't find one.
Anyway, this is more an exercise in trying to get this experimental feature to work.
I would be using this method probably fairly regularly with other songs that will definitely not be in the Musescore database.
I just saw on their web page that BIAB now exports directly to XML.
My version is 2013 which didn't support this feature.
I may bite the bullet and upgrade later, although I wasn't planning to.

MuseScore doesn't import the melody because there is an unknown event in it and we break the loop here https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/blob/192078945d247b4fc81fdf0de7e…
If I remove the break, we can load the file but measure 65 is corrupted. Could you attach a PDF export from BIAB of the same file?

I filed a bug and fixed it for the next version of MuseScore. #151846: [BIAB] Melody is not imported
If you have problems with BIAB import, it's very useful to have a simple BIAB file to reproduce the problem and a PDF of the expected result.

Hi,
The pdf is attached as it looks in BIAB. Measure 65 is a few measures from the end.
I wonder, BIAB repeats this chart 5 times as marked at the end, any chance that has something to do with it?
I just gave it a try and something is not working in BIAB.
Once the # of choruses is changed to 1 instead of 5, it doesn't stay that way even after saving the new MGU. Re-opening the file in BIAB, the # of choruses comes back to 5 even after it was saved as 1.
Maybe this has nothing to do with Musescore not showing the melody, I don't know.
