Style setting Above for Hairpins doesn't work

Setting the style for hairpins in Format/General Style/Hairpins,Voltas,Ottavas from Below to Above doesn't cause any effect ti existing hairpins or (de)crecendo lines, not to newly added ones.
Changing that Setting indiviaually via Inspector works though
