Installing plugins
Perhaps I am simply technologically handicapped, but I don't really understand how to install a plugin. I've downloaded the Jojo Schmitz-crescendo-diminuendo-playback plugin but I don't understand how to install it into my copy of Musescore, or what directory it goes in, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Which operating system are you running ? Mac, Windows, Linux?
If you didn't read it yet, you might want to read this handbook page: Plugins

Windows Vista. I have read it but I don't understand how to uncompress the file into the suggested directories. When I click on "Open With," it doesn't give MuseScore as a program to open the file with.

Put the file in the plugins directory, right click it and choose Extract all or similar in the menu.

Is the Plugins directory the button at the top of the MuseScore screen that says Plugins? I've tried clicking and dragging the file there but nothing happens. If not, how do I locate it? I've searched my computer for it but I can't find it.

No, the plugin directory is a directoty or folder on your disk. Please read the manual again, http://musescore.org/en/handbook/plugins
For Vista the files need to go into %ProgramFiles%\MuseScore/Plugins (%ProgramFiles% typically is C:\Program Files) or into your %LOCALAPPDATA%\MusE\MuseScore\plugins

OK, I've managed to do that, I think. Thanks.
Hi, I have the same skill-set issue, except I'm running v1.3 on Mac Mavericks. I assume it's different from Vista?
Thanks!

I re-read the handbook, figured out the problem.
I have similar problems with the plugins.
I have unzipped the plugin in the plugin folder but it is still not shown in the plugin menue.
The unzipped plugin has an extension of UI where as the other default plugins have a QML extension.
is there a way of extracting this.
Help please

Plugins for 1.x have a .js extension, if they come with a GUI they also have files with a .ui Extension. Plugins for 2.0 have a .qml Extension and the GUI, if any, is build in, no .ui files.
So it is very likely you got a 1.x plugin, which won't work in 2.0.
But if it is a 2.0 plugin, it also needs to get enabled in the Plugin Manager, it won't show up in the menu automatically without that, like it did in 1.x.

Thanks. That's very helpful to know that the plugin extension .js won't work in 2.0.
