How do you write in sticking for percussion in musescore?

any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried looking in the handbook, but to no fortune.

Assuming you mean you want to add text markings like "L" and "R", see the section on Text. Probably you'd want to enter this as either Staff Text or maybe as Lyrics. Or perhaps you want to add symbols from the Symbols palette (press "Z" to display)?
