Accidentals - help!

• Feb 24, 2014 - 22:02

Every time I change a note by adding an accidental, musescore is automatically making the next appearance of that note back to the non-accidental version i.e. if a bar in C major had four G crotchets in it and I turned the first one flat, musescore will put a natural sign on the next one. So I'd end up having to put an accidental on each note. How can I turn this off?

If you don't want an accidental in front of each 'G' in the same bar, instead of using the Accidentals palette, simply click on one or more (Shift+click or Ctrl+click) notes to select, then use the down arrow to drop the note(s) a half step. Do this, and only the necessary accidentals will be shown.

The reason MuseScore puts a natural in front of the second 'G' is because all 'G's were originally entered as sounding natural (in the key of C major). By putting the flat in front of the first 'G', MuseScore will not guess that you want *all* the 'G's changed, so it adds the natural to the the second 'G' to keep the pitch the same until 'you' change it.

Welcome aboard.
