prima volta
I double clicked on a prima volta for a Latin tune, Fungii Mama, and it appeared but didn't work on playback. I have used prima volta many times with no trouble. Any ideas?

Select all of the measures it is to apply to then double click it from the palette and make sure you change the play count in the measure properties.
Also make sure the play repeats button is clicked on in the toolbar.

The play count in the measure properties is set to "2" but is grayed out.

Sound like you have dragged a repeat symbol from the master palette to the barline rather than using the barline found in both the Barlines and Repeats and Jumps palettes.
Otherwise, as Marc said, attach the score.

I was pretty sure I did that. But I went back and did it again from the Repeats and Jumps palette. No joy. I will attach the file. Fungii Mama.mscz Fungii Mama.mscz

Duh! Got it.!!!!!
Also be sure to have set up the repeat barline, the second ending, and any other components of your roadmap. MuseScore doesn't do a good of guessing if you've only entered part of the information (like a DS al Coda but no actual coda).
If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score so we can advise better.
