When I click on those links I just get taken to music files. My guess is that it's Google trying to be clever and assigning images based on content.

I saw the album artwork before uploading the files. It was possibly Windows 7 Pro that "tried to be clever". I would really like to be able to prevent this but I don't know how. I don't understand what random guy in a hoodie has to do with a regiment of darkness.

I believe Windows Media Player, iTunes, and other media players have ability to recognzie audio files by various methods and automatically assign artwork. My guess is their algorithms are based on things like the file length, maybe some metadata in the case of WAV or MP3. In any case, it definitely had absolutely nothing to do with MuseScore.

Is there a way to to assign my own artwork to override the annoying automatically assigned artwork?

Probably, but that question is really better suited on the support forums of those programs…

I do recall both Windows Media Player and iTunes having these options. So worth looking up the instructions for whatever program you are using to manage your music collection.
