Playback Not Working
Hello!!
I am relatively new MuseScore and music notation software in general so I apologize if this topic has been covered already. I did search and found nothing so…
I imported a simple MXL lead sheet into MuseScore and it won’t play, even after I saved it as a MSCZ or MSCX file. When I click the play button, it doesn’t stay clicked or play the piece. However, the notes DO play when clicked individually. All of the settings I have checked seem to be correct and are identical to other scores I have created that do play. If I open another piece of music during the same session, they play fine. Closing and reopening the program does nothing.
It is the ONLY piece of music I have imported or created that hasn’t played so I have a feeling the original file I imported may have been corrupted but before I recreate the piece from scratch, I figured I ask here if there may be a setting I missed.
Thanks so much for any assistance you can offer!

can you attach it here?
Which version of MuseScore, what O/S, what are the sound settings?

Windows 7, MuseScore Version 1.3
The sound settings are identical to the settings that work on every other score so I don't think that's the problem.
Attached are the mscx file and the original mxl.

Hmm, interesting. Doesn't play in the nighltly builds either, quite a few complaint about tpc being invalid?!
Looks like we need out MusicXML guru, Leon Vinken, to have a look...

Apparently, the pick-up measure was corrupt. I deleted this measure, then insert a new one (I also removed as a precaution the first barline start repeat of recovery before add a new one)
Now, audio playback is ok. Half As Much.mscz

Even simpler: the Tempo Text indicated 999BPM!
So it did playback, just way to fast to notice
The MXL had it as <sound tempo="216000">, the MSCX as <tempo>3600</tempo>
Seems the MusicXML Import should sanitize this.

Tempo properties shows 999+ BPM.
Delete 'Country Shuffle', (or lower BPM) and all is well.

Right! ☺
@HuffNPuff: Sorry, I thought you were using a Nightly!
First of all, thanks to everyone who helped and opened my eyes to issues that caused this problem. Hopefully I'll look at the tempo if I ever have an issue like this again.
For the record, I reopened my MXL version, tweaked the tempo from the 999 BPM setting that was there and it plays fine!! I'll finish up my other revisions later now that I don't have to start from scratch. :-)
Interestingly though, before I fixed my MXL file, I downloaded cadiz1's attached repaired MSCZ file located on his reply but when I tried to open it I got an error message that read:
Cannot read this score:
Your version of MuseScore is too old.
Upgrade now!
I'm running 1.3 which I though was the latest version. Any ideas why his file wouldn't open on my PC?
Thanks again everyone!

download a Nightly, if you want to experiment, it is the one used by cadiz.

That explains it!
I need a Nightly-cap after all of this!
Thanks!!
