Add measures: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/measure-operations#insert will 'overflow' to the next page as needed
Doesn't work, I tried that the day before and it inserts a new measure before the last measure. Then all the measures before the new measure get pushed back along with all the chord symbols and it turns into mush. Nope did not work at all. There has to be a way. Anyone else that can offer some help it would be greatly appreciated.

Use ctrl+b for 1 measure or ctrl+alt+b for several measures to be added to the end of the score.

I tried your suggestion. All it does is add more measures on the same stave but it does not overflow into a new page. Frustrating.

Add a (page) break before these measures, see: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/breaks-and-spacers

Keep in mind that MuseScore always tries to fit as many measure onto a staff as possible. Empty measures can be very small, just start entering your notes and MuseScore will allocate more space for them.
It's usually easier to first focus on note entry (perhaps even in continuous view) and only then start worrying about how the layout looks.

To be clear: they will overflow onto a new page the moment it becomes necessary for them to. If they fit on the current page, they will be placed there, but as you add notes, they will naturally get wider and not fit any more and at that point MuseScore will figure out how many measures to keep on this page. Just focus on writing the music, let MuseScore handle the details of which measures go on which pages :-)
