I have just loaded muse score 3 update it won't open on second attempt to open it shows message previous closed unexpectedly do you want to continue on clicking yes it immediately closes
15 Nov 2019
After earlier crashes today - upgraded to latest version of MS3. I'm using Win10 Home (version 1903, system build 18362.476). No problems on any other applications e.g. Web, email, Office.
Loaded my MuseScore3 arrangement OK. Playback worked OK. About to edit my score and it crashed.
Attempted to upload System Report but received error message - unable to load error report.
I re-booted my PC and opened MuseScore again - and left it alone. It crashed again.
Any ideas?
MuseScore crashes after a while without a score loaded? Or after 2 minutes with a score loaded? I'd the latter, share the score, it most probably is corrupt and causes a crash aunt (auto)save
Thanks Jojo.
I deleted the Flute part and saved it. But the Flute part remained in my score - strange?.
Next step ... File > Parts/add it back. In the top half of the dialog box, the Flute Part is gone . The lower half of dialog box, 'instruments in the score' are 'greyed' out and not accessible ()incl Flute.
So, I clicked on the Generate button and that duplicated all the parts (doubled up) but it added in the Flute.
I suspect I'm doing something wrong?
My other score (attached) last week was also crashing. Would you mind checking this to verify there are no corruptions? Is that something I can do myself?
Thanks again
Paul
What's strange about that?
Hit the New button, change the name "Part" to Flute", select Flute in the bottom selection and hit +, then move it up in the upper list
Thie other score a) doesn't report corruptions on load so no corruption in score and b) doesn't crash on save, so doesn't seem to be corrupt in its parts
Strange? Because I thought it would delete it from my Score. I gather that Score/Flute is different to Part/Flute - it's Part/Flute that was deleted?
I'm new to MuseScore and t's been a fairly steep learning curve over just a few weeks!
Thanks for checking my other Score - re-assuring to know it's ok.

Me. too. My MuseScore 3 keep crashing despite updating. Also eye tried uninstalling/installing the software to exclude any corruption. Nevertheless, could not find out the solution. F.Y
Thanks for your advise. as eye informed in the last mail, four out of five scores were crashed after reverting to factory settings. Lastly the last one score was also crashed. All the four scores were saved under the names. Eye used window 10. The phenomena of crashing appeared recently since eye began using MuseScore soft some two-to-three month before. Don't know the reason of crashing, but eye might have saved either by 'saving under the name' or by just simply 'saving'.
Tried reverting clicking "Yes" to 'Revert to Factory settings' and MuseScore immediately started by start up wizard. It seemed to have reverted, however four saved scores in 'Document'( eye saved five scores with only names of scores) were immediately crashed. Those scores were saved under the name. So the situation was not changed.
Thanks for comments. eye cannot open any file more, since MuseScore would not start showing crash report.
However, if it is helpful , eye am attaching the one. (it is the only remained score because eye deleted all other scores) . Thank your for your review and advice in advance.
With the old version it saves/opens without crashing,
Try double-clicking on a *.mscz file. If this works, open Edit->Peferences and disable the start center. It might not be related, but give it a try. HTH
Thanks to all guys reports of confirming the successful opening of the score I attached, now I am convinced that the saved score had no problem. However, I still face some time when My MuseScore would not open but just show crash report. On second time trial to open the score, question comes if I want to recover and when I reply ''Yes' or No', it starts as usual now. So the situation seems more stabled. So I will see a while with some more trials. Thank you for your advice.
I'm having the same problem too. I just open musescore and it says previous session quit unexpectedly. Restore session? and if i press yes. It just crashes. And if just try to open it from files. It all crashes before even loading. I don't know what to do. If anyone could help that would be awesome thanks.
It doesn't crash for me though.
With a corrupt score anything can happen, including crashes.

Jojo, I opened my score and left it alone - to see if it would crash. It crashed within a couple of minutes.
I've just returned to my score today - but crashed again while doing some edits. File attached.

It seems the Flute part is corrupt, Go to File > Parts and delete it, and you can save the score. Then go to File > Part again and add it back

Can you be more specific? When does it crash? Did you also try reverting to factory settings as suggested above?

So, MuseScore starts, but you have scores that crash?
If so, attach a score that crashes.

To turn all measures with nothing but rests into having full measure rests, right?
I've just updated MS to MS 3, and after following the steps of installing, upon opening MS 3 the programme crashes within seconds.

Open it by double clicking on an existing score, they should now open version 3. If this works then go into Edit->Preferences and uncheck the Show Start Center to see if that fixes the crash. See #275837: MuseScore crashes during start-up while displaying "Start center"
