multibar rests
I am using MuseScore 3 on my OS 10.13.6 Mac. In the past, I have been able to make multibar rests work but this time i can't. I want to make a rest of 3 bars but no matter what I do, I keep getting 13 bars, which is the 3 bars I want plus the 10 blank bars that are currently in my piece but where notes will go after the multibar rest. I tried deleting the extra 10 bars and making a 3 bar multibar rest but then the program won't let me add in new bars to keep going. I've read all the online hints and tried it all but nothing is changing. Please help! Thanks.

When you are done entering notes, that is the time to enable multibar rests

I just tried what you suggested and left the bars empty and carried on putting in notes further along. As an experiment, I left bars empty in a couple other places as well. Then I pushed M and the program gathered together the bars in each of these locations, putting the correct number above and the bar symbol in the bar itself. Whew. This is not at all evident from the instructions in the link above. But now I have the answer. Thank you very much.
