Linking tabs with score notes

I do not seem to be able to link acoustic guitar tab with the acoustic guitar score so I can enter tab and the notes will show on the score stave. I must be missing something somewhere but I cannot figure out where. Help! I have been through the manual and I have used the set up new score with no avail for me. I know the must be a way to enter notes on the tab and have the musical notes appear on the score stave so one doesn't have to re enter every this twice.
