Single Rest
I just want to add and 1/8 rest at the beginning of the bar and the options that are available in the tool bar do not allow me to access them. Do I have a bug in my tool box or is there another way to add 1 rest.

You can add rests in any of the various ways described in the Handbook. Easiest is to select the duration normally then instead of typing a letter name to enter a note, type "0" to enter a rest. Or, if you prefer clicking to typing, instead of left-clicking to enter a note, right-click to enter a rest.
