Export lead sheet midi to Garageband, melody only
I created a jazz lead sheet and want to export the midi file to Garageband, without the chord changes. Is there a way to do that? Can one separate the melody and changes in the Garageband track? Should I create a copy of my lead sheet, delete the chord symbols from it, then export that to midi and drag into Garageband? How does one do that? Is it save a copy, then open the copy? I created a midi file of the chords in iReal Pro with piano, bass, and drums, then exported that to Garageband. That's why I don't want the chords from the MuseScore midi file in the Garageband track.
Thanks.

Mute everything you don't want in the MIDI?

Do you mean mute the chord channels in the mixer? That seems to have no effect on the MIDI export.

That got to be a bug then. Please report it in the issue tracker
Try one of the other methods to not have them playback, like the Play setting

Thanks for #311415: Chords from chord symbols appear in MIDI exports even when chord playback is off and chord channels are muted in Mixer
But we can't reproduce

same behavior for me using OS: macOS 13.3, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.2-230651546, revision: dbe7c6d ; chords will always be exported even after muting them in the mixer

Disable the Chord symbols' play property

Seems to be a known bug; another workaround is to turn the volume all the way down instead of muting.
Here's a way:
Right click a chord symbol, then Select -> All Similar Elements, and delete all the chord symbols.
Export to MIDI and then undo the delete (or simply close the score without saving the change).
