Version 3.5.2 constantly crashes.
I recently updated to 3.5.2 (I think a week ago?), and since then I cannot open the app at all. I remember installing it as normal, then it told me to close the window where Musescore was opened. I tried to do so, it didn't work for some reason, so I just told the computer to restart after the instalation. Other than that, it was totally fine. However, now every time I open the app it tells me that the last session quit unexpectedly and no matter what I choose it opens the main page for a second, and then simply closes. This has happened for multiple days, with me having restarted and fully shut down my laptop (I have Windows 10) in between these trials. With my limited tech understanding, the simplest solution to me would be to delete the program and reinstall it, but I am not certain how to do this in a way to not lose my files and perhaps, there's an even simpler solution that I am missing? Thank you so much for your help!

Try double clicking a file and see if MuseScore opens that way.
If it does, then go to Edit → Preferences and uncheck the start centre.

it totally worked, thank you so much! i am just curious, is there a common problem with the start centre this update, or did i mess something up in the process?

There is an elusive problem for some people that everyone wants to see fixed. See #275837: MuseScore crashes during start-up while displaying "Start center" for more info.

It seems like the fix introduced in 3.5.2 resulted in the bug shifting onto a new set of users :'(

Maybe. Since the release of 3.0 we've seen this with every update of both the program and windows 10 so I'm not so fast to blame the fix for breaking it worse.

The fix surely was a good one, just not fixing this particular issue

On Ubuntu 22.04.1 (MuseScore-3.6.2.548021370-x86_64.AppImage), my problem was a pop-up window indicating that the program was not responding. Disabling the start center has also solved this issue. Thanks for the tip !
This problem has returned. Just installed 3.5.2. It was okay in 3.5.0 but the version I had previously (maybe 3.2.?, don't remember) behaved in this manner. I have disabled the start center. Has anyone figured out why it is occurring?

It seems there is a problem with a file hanging during install. Some people have reported success by using the repair option when using the installer.

There was a report that certain files could not be close. One option was to retry. If that didn't work it said to continue anyway but then you would need to reboot. Chose that option. The file that could not close was listed many times as if something is not closing down and remaining after Musescore is close. Anyhow, the problem with the preview has been "fixed" by deselecting it in preferences.

Just installed 3.5.2 and when I try to open MuseScore it gives me an option to "restore the previous session"? Whether I choose Y or N, I then get a box that says, "MuseScore 3 has stopped working." It gives me an option to Close or Check Online for a Solution then Close." Either way, both options close the program. I'm completely locked out and am not sure how to resolve this. Thanks for the reply.

See the faq I linked directly above your pist
I am seeing slow startup with v3.5.2, and I just installed MuseScore for the first time, over the weekend. Launching an ".mscz" file I created doesn't help the program load any faster, for me.
I thought I had a startup hang the second time I launched it, and ended up rebooting to get rid of the splash screen. After that, I started customizing the Preferences, and unchecked the Start Center.
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.5.2.311459983, revision: 465e7b6
Just more user input, hoping the support team will respond to volume. I see a 65% off deal good through the end of the year. I am not sure I want to invest in this program, yet.

The program is 100% free.

To be clear: MuseScore - the notation software - is always 100% free. The deal you are seeing is probably for something else, like maybe a Pro account on the score sharing website musescore.com.
As for the startup time - what constitutes slow? A few seconds is normal. Anything approaching or exceeding a minute is not. Unless you have installed any large soundfonts, like the ones that come with the MDL extension. Then yes, start times of well over a minute become quite common.
Are you saying the unchecking the Start Center had an effect? If so, that might suggest you have some large corrupt file in your Scores folder that MuseScore is having trouble generating the thumbnail for. But then, starting from an MSCZ file directly should have solve that - unless that was the large corrupt file in question I guess. Note the Start Center is not the splash screen - the splash screen is just a pretty blue box to keep you busy while you wait for the program to load. The Start Center is an actual thing you can interact with once the load is complete - a thumbnail view of your recent scores, etc.
If you just installed MuseScore for the first time, you have nothing to lose from Help / Revert to Fsctory Settings, so I'd recommend that.
