How to get scores without time signature (and clef)

• Nov 11, 2020 - 21:00

I use MuseScore 3, and I have difficulties with writing a note sheet without measure bars. I need to write down some intricate folk songs, and I don't get how either I can remove the bars, or start a clean sheet. Can anyone help?
In the manual it's only referred to MuseScore 1 and 2.

You can turn of barlines, clefs and time signatures by right clicking the staff, choosing staff/part properties and removing checks from the appropriate options. This makes it look like what you want.

You will no doubt experience places where notes will need to span the measures because MuseScore has them even though the barlines and time signatures are suppressed. I suggest to Open Format->Style and under Score Check the option that says "Display note values across measure barlines..." I've never heard of this causing a problem in spite of the warning that's been there since at least 2.0.3. This will prevent a whole note on beat 3 from being turned into 2 tied 1/2 notes and so forth.

You can hide barlines, or you can join the measures themselves to create one long one, with Tools / Measures / Join Selected Measures.

Not sure which manual you mean that still talks about MuseScore 1 or 2, but the Handbook you see in the Support menu above (or in the Help menu within MuseScore) is for MuseScore 3.
