Change defaults - Printing & Blank Score

I can't figure out how to change two defaults:

When I open Musescore a blank score appears and it's always a treble clef single staff. I only do solo piano so I'd like treble and bass staffs. Is there a way to make that the default?
Whenever I print the default comes up "Color". I want only black & white. My printer defaults to b&w (outside of Musescore) but every time the score comes up indicating "Color", even when I'm re-printing a score in the same session and previously specified b&w. Is there a way to make that the default?
BTW, in case you're wondering, I read that if you don't specify black&white some inkjet printers (including mine) use a little color ink when printing b&w. Apparently it makes the black deeper or shinier, but I don't need that and prefer to save the cost.

Prepare a score to use as a template;
From preferences set Start with score (browse to your template);
File/Print->set the printer

Thanks, the first answer worked great, now I have the right default blank score.
However the Print setting doesn't work. My printer screen comes up like this:

I click on Preferences and get this:

I select Black/Grayscale.
But the next time I print -- even the same file in the same session -- it comes up with Color selected.
Am I missing something?

What I've shown in the image above is the MuseScore dialog box. No printer installed or connected to the pc (Linux Mint). Try resetting by disconnecting yours (don't know if that would work though).

Okay, I misunderstood the image -- I thought that was your printer.
I tried disconnecting the printer but I still get the same dialog boxes. I'd probably at least have to uninstall the printer completely and that might not even work in Windows. I guess I'll just live with having to specify b&w every time I print. The fact that it resets every single time surprises me -- everything else I print, in any app I use, keeps whatever I set for that specific document. It's inconvenient but I can live with it.

Try again: File/Print check in the first drop-down list if there is your printer or other option

I do have multiple printer options -- one actual printer, two "print to pdf", one "print to fax", and a "print to file". But whatever I choose it resets to the actual printer and b&w the next time I print.

I appreciate the suggestions though.

If you want a Pdf, use File > Export. If you want a printout use File > Print and a real physical printer.

We can't help you with thw settings of your printer, the vendor of that printer might/should

I'm all set with printing to the actual printer; I just mentioned the other options in response to the previous poster's suggestion about choosing a different output.

My printer is set to default to b&w. It does so for every other app I print with. Musescore is the only one that reverts it to color.
