Please comment on my first composition
At the age of 71, I am writing my first piece of music. I have written a lullaby tune for a children's poem I used to read/sing to my children and I have begun composing a piano accompaniment and would welcome any and all comments on the tune and/or the start of the piano part.
I have no formal musical education, and have no idea how many rules and conventions I am breaking.
Thanks in advance,
Tommy

Nice job - I actually really like that! the only thing I would say is that those syncopated F#s might be better written as two tied 8th notes rather than a quarter note, just so that the 3rd beat is "visible." that just makes it easier for a performer. I still really like it - nice first composition!

Thank you. It still needs a little bit of polish, and , of course, I have a long way to go. Did you think the piano was connected well enough to the vocal?
