Tie between notes in Alto Saxophone is not correctly played by synthesizer

• Apr 3, 2021 - 10:07

In many sheets on the platform the ties between notes are not played correctly by the synthesizer.
So you hear two notes instead of one longer note.
Example:

ABBA Medley - Saxophone Duet

You can hear this problem in the client software 3.6.2
(OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (32-bit): 3.6.2.548021803, revision: 3224f34) and in the browser Firefox 87.0 (64-bit).

In my own sheets, I created or scanned from paper and imported via MXML this problem does not occur.
Maybe a problem of the MuseScore file version.

Is there an know solution?

Best regards,

Thank you for this quick answer.
According to my saxophone teacher slur (Bindebogen) and tie (Haltebogen) is the same, but this is maybe only true for woodwinds.
Yes, I find these problems as slur in the score (just looked it up), but the sound is definitely wrong, because I know the original song.
How can I change to a tie easily, because if I use the tie button, I always get different additional ties, I do not want.
Thanks to the expert.

Ties and slurs, while looking alike, are fundamentally different, and independant of the instrument. Your teacher is just plain wrong there.

The sound of slurs notes are different with wind instruments indeed, lacking the attck, the tonguing of the subsequent notes, but not in MuseScore.

Sorry,

I know understood how to use slur and tie.
If I want a tie between two notes of the same pitch, I must mark the first note and than use tie.
If I want a slur, which is between different pitches, I must mark the first note and use slur.

Now it sounds correct, but the several slurs in the score, I mentioned must be ties.

Thank you, Jojo for your help.

P.S.: I am an music newbee and play saxophone for just 3 month. I use this great software to support my exercise. I can transpose scores, simplify them and can play them with the synthesizer, so I know, how it must really sound like.
