Double bar repeats

I am trying to use a double bar repeat in MuseScore 3.6. I tried to use the suggested workaround on the how-to part on the website that said to choose the bars being repeated, got to Tools > Bars > Join Bars, but the "Join Bars" option is greyed out and cannot be selected. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?
