Adding analysis horizontal brackets to score
I'm trying to add brackets which signify phrases in the music like the attached image.
I found somewhere that you can add a line, then edit it to include vertical lines, but this was from 2010 and in fact doesn't work anymore. It won't even let me edit the element.
Also, when I add a system text line I cannot change the text.

You can use either a Staff text line (I don't think a system text line is suitable here) or a plain line, from the Lines palette (of the advanced workspace), and then tweak the begin and end to have hooks, and add/delete the texts

And when you have a line styled to your liking you can hold CTRL + SHIFT (CMD + SHIFT on a MAC) and drag it from the score to a pallet and use it elsewhere, just as you would a "standard" line.
