Tie that will not be deleted or edited in any way [nevermind it disappeared]

• Oct 30, 2021 - 22:42

So I converted a pdf into a musescore file and I'm just going through it to fix all the little errors, but I noticed a tie not really connecting anything or needing to be there so I selected it and clicked delete. It did nothing. I can move it all over the score and it wreaks havoc on the spacing, but nothing can be done. I can't change it to another part. It says it's from measure, beat 4 to measure 3, beat 3 on staff 4, which I think should be invisible for that part of the song?? I know I could make the tie invisible, but I'd know it was there and it doesn't make sense. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Also, a different but slightly related issue, does anyone know how to stop several ties being created automatically when I only want one?

Edit: Yeah I opened the app the next day, mind you, I never closed it, so theoretically nothing should have changed. But it's just. gone. So, yay I guess.

It is difficult to tell from a picture, but I suspect

a) that is a slur not a tie (a tie can only apply to notes of the same pitch)

b) the slur has been displaced a long way from where it should be. Try selecting the slur and use keyboard shortcut CTRL+R to reset its position and then try again to delete it.

If b) doesn't work, come back here and attach the score (.mscz file) so that someone can investigate further.
