String double stops and chords
I'm typing out a piece for a friend - see attached score. At Bar 3 the 1st Violins have a four note chord. The composer wants only the top note to sound for two beats. Is there a way to show the lower notes as shorter - e.g. crotchets (quarter notes)?

Voices are in general the correct answer. But FWIW, you could achieve this result by using the Inspector to change the noteheads of the bottom notes to quarter instead of half. Playback would still be half, though. Again, voices are the right answer in general, but this could be a quick hack that is occasionally useful as well.
