Timing doesn't match note count
OK ... this is extremely frustrating. First 6 measures at 4/4 count, notes add up (ie, 1/4
s, 1/8s, etc). 7th measure, notes do not add up. In fact, with the metronome sounding on the 7th measure, there is a quick jump to the first beat in the 8th measure. Ie, 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. There is no "and" between the 4th beat of the 7th measure and the 1st beat of the 8th measure. Using 1, a, +, b, 2, a, +, b, 3, a, +, b, 4, a, +, b to identify each 1/16th beat (each number, letter and plus sign gets 1/16 beat (comma just a separator) thereby adding up to 16), the following timing is: 1(1/8 dot note = 3/16), a(nil note), +(nil note), b(1/16 note), 2(1/8 note), a(nil note), +(1/8 note), b(nil note), 3( 1/8 dot note = 3/16), a(nil note), +(nil note), b(1/16 note), 4(1/16 note?) and then the next measure! It is suppose to be 4(1/8 note), a(nil note), +(1/8 note), b(nil note). THere are no rests. I tried moving the 4/4 timing to each measure, but no change. What am I doing wrong. Simple math!?!

I am having this exact same problem!!! I'm in 6/8 and suddenly there's two bars of 4/8 and I can't fix it! I noticed these weird little lines above the two measures, maybe it's something to do with that??

These weird little lines are actually minus signs, indicating that the measure's actual duration is shorter than its nominal duration (i.e. shorter as as per current time sig).
Right-click into it, measure properties, change actual duration
Then fix the notes (copy/cut & paste)

Thank you! I'm not very Musescore savvy so I don't realise a lot of the extras like that

That's why we have a handbook ;-)

And for your problem, here is a good place to look in the Handbook https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#duration

Thank you. Handbook is good. Forum is better. It saves me the time from trying to find the answer, thus why I prefer the post. THe answer was exactly what I was looking for. I did learn one thing not to do. Deleting rest screws up the timing. No more of that. Just put in the notes and the rests will be automatically adjusted. All good now. Now I just need to figure out how to copy and paste notes/chords.

That too is in the handbook, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/copy-and-paste

Users not looking in the handbook but instead waiting for a kind hearted person to look for them surely wastes everyone's time.
