Can't get bass slide to sound right

In the accompanying score, I can't get the slide near the end of the second measure to sound right. I selected Portamento in the Inspector, but, after sliding up to the note, the MuseScore player plucks the last note. How can I get it to simply slide between the two notes and hold the second note? It actually sounds better with Chromatic selected.
