Colored Notation Question

• Dec 17, 2022 - 01:34

Hello, I am completely new to MuseScore, as I have just heard about it from the announcement of the 4th Edition. I have a question if this newest version supports Color Notation on the Notes. I have a set color code for all of the notes that I like to use on the app I currently use. But I would like to be able to have a preset built in so that I don’t have to individually select the note and go to a drop down menu to select the color for each note, but rather would like to be able to color code every key individually then have it do the same thing every time when I select the preset. I understand this isn’t something that is very easy to do and may be something that would take a large amount of time to do. But I would like to know what the current state of how that functions on MuseScore 4. Thank you.

MS4 comes with a color notes plugin (I believe it uses Boomwhacker) and can be enabled from the "Home" tab. You can then apply it to notation from the top "Plugins" menu.

It doesn't allow changing the assigned colors, but perhaps you can create your own plugin starting from it?
