Undock the play pannel from the toolbar by dragging the field with the 6 dots
See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/playback-controls#play-position-and… and in particular the bit about the play panel needing to be undocked. That is achieved by dragging on the 6 dots on the left of the panel.
One wonders why such a useful control needs to be hidden like this. It makes the interface nice and neat but a PIA to use, especially for those not initiated into where all the useful stuff has been tidied away to.
