Manipulating Chordnames, Selecting Groups
I have real difficulty setting up the page - mostly I just don't understand what all the settings are. I have been using MuseScore for quite a few years but I am not a composer or an orchestra professional so I don't think I am ever going to fully understand ALL the musical terms.
I find that the default Bb and Eb chordnames are very hard to read. So I chose a font and size which helps me differentiate them. When I do this the chordnames end up in all sorts of positions but the main problem is that they are often way too high above the stave. So then, when I am done everything else, I enlarge the screen, hold down the CTRL key, select all the chordnames and then lower them to a more appropriate position. I'm getting quite good at this after a couple of years but it's still a pain!
The main feature I would like is a way to select groups (or all) chornames!
Only I can determine what position I would like to see them in - it depends on how high my notes go etc. So moving them with the mouse is probably as good a way as any.
Hope that's all clear, thanks,
Ken

It would help if you posted a sample score and dewscribed more specifically what you are trying to do.
To select all items of a given type, right click one and choose Select / All similar.
If you are creating a lot of lead sheets for a fakebook, you shouldn't be doing this over and over, though. Just set up Style / Edit Text Style / Chordnames with the settings you want, save as a template, and keep using it. In 2.0 Beta, you can use the text style to change size / position after entering chords as well - something that didn't really work in 1.3.
In 2.0 beta, you can also move groups of elements using the Inspector, which allows much more precise and reproducible adjustments.

I sure wish I had asked that question 3 years ago!!
Forgive me for not trying that by myself! (right click)
I try to use a standard Style but have failed, so far, to create one that works throughout. All my lead sheets end up different because I got to a lot of trouble to fit them onto one page.
Thanks, I'm switching to Beta
The problem with Eb vs. Bb in 1.x using stdchords.xml is a know issue, see #16618: stdchords.xml has b to close to the base chord letter. 2.0 beta 1 shouldn't have that, neither should my modified chords.xml file, which should be floating around in the forum somewhere, see http://musescore.org/en/node/23514#comment-90018
I think what you are looking for is the following:
In 1.x: Style > Edit Text Style > Chordname
In 2.0: Style > Text > Chord Symbol
Alter the Y value for height and X for horizontal placement. In 1.x you should save, close and re-open the score for it to take effect.
Incidentally, if it's something you don't understand then best post the question in Support. If the answers reveal that what you want to achieve is possible in 1.x and 2.0 then you get your answer and no inappropriate feature request has been made. If it isn't possible in 1.3 but it is possible in 2.0 then the answer is to upgrade. If what you want isn't possible in 2.0. then you have done all you possibly can, others have chimed in with (hopefully) helpful suggestions so now is the time to submit a Feature Request.

I have been using MuseScore for about 4 years but I don't understand it all. I really need help at the lowest level of the panels. For instance, when I am editing a Style I don't really understand what "Grand Staff Distance" does and I can't just change it to see what happens (usually nothing). "context Help" would be really useful here.
MuseScore is a Wonderful product but it really quite complex for what I want and therefore quite difficult for me to learn. I'll try to behave in future.
Thanks again for your time.

Grand Staff Distance is the distance between the two staves of a Grand Staff. A Grand Staff is the two staves - usually with treble clef and bass clef - used in most piano music.
So this setting only has an effect if you have a Grand Staff in your score (ie, if your score includes a piano).
